The Burbank Civic Pride Committee is a group of citizens appointed by the City Council to encourage and promote civic involvement and pride in our community, as well as perform other advisory functions that may be delegated to it. Members serve two year terms; half of the committee is appointed each year in May when the City Council makes their appointments.
Over the years, the Civic Pride Committee has:
-headed a city-wide celebration of the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution.
-organized the big celebration for the 50th anniversary of Burbank City Hall in 1993.
-supported graffiti removal efforts.
-produced postcards: one picturing the grand reopening of the Starlight Bowl in 1993, and one for the opening of the new Police-Fire Headquarters in 1998.
-In 1991, researched and recommended an Official City Flower: Ceanothus, California Lilac.
