Approved volunteers may choose to assist in any of the following categories: dog care, cat care, rabbit care, administrative tasks, Senior Pet Therapy, kitten fostering or assisting the veterinarian staff. Before completing an application form, each prospective applicant must first attend an orientation.

An orientation is conducted each quarter, and takes approximately 1 hour. The format is an introduction to the VBAS Board, an outline of what we do followed by a walk-through of the shelter. There is a Q&A session at the end. Application forms are only available following participation in an orientation, which is limited to 20 people. (Dress code: tennis shoes/sneakers and comfortable clothing).

Each week, our volunteers provide medical care to our animal residents, foster an abandoned litter of kittens and add joy to the lives of individuals in assisted living facilities. Committed to the philosophy that each and every animal is a unique and valued being, our programs would not be possible without the dedication and hard work from our volunteers.

Those individuals interested in the adult volunteer program may choose to assist in one or several of the following categories: dog care, cat care, rabbit care, administrative tasks, Senior Pet Therapy, kitten fostering or choose to be weekly veterinarian assistant.

The next orientation will be held in July, and the exact date will be posted on June 27. In order to register, please check back at that time. The orientation is limited to 20 people and takes approximately 1 hour. Applications are only made available through participation in an orientation. Thank you for your interest!
