I have read many reviews and agree wholeheartedly on how life altering for the good this training is, so I will try to add something more about the content of class.
LA has never been known for its theater, but the first thing I noticed when I began Gene’s class years ago was how all of his students were realer than most of the actors I’ve seen on TV and on stage: anywhere! I was humbled to discover my acting thus far back home in NY (and my college degree) I had to unlearn. My B.A. was B.S! Now I don’t wonder “how” I do at an audition… only “if” I did my job or not. I have my accomplishments in the biz, but if I don’t see another award again, I’m fine with knowing Gene gave me what I wanted most of all in life- to become a great actor.
Some acting coaches only want to train people that are already “good” to make their roster seem more impressive. Gene is the ONLY person I have ever witnessed both willing and able to make a bad actor (and I mean BAD) a GREAT one! Those already gifted every week unpeel new levels of authenticity they’ve never before discovered- even his multi- award winners and nominees! The genius of the “Acting for Life” technique lies in that that talent discovered and developed translates to sooo many other facets of life outside of acting… somehow I bet Carl Jung would be proud of the work.
I’ve seen “non-actors” seek Gene just for inner confidence or improvements in public speaking. He has beginners, working actors, and experts and I like best how soon the newer students get as good as his seasoned veterans… everything from knowing how to truly listen, to letting go. Other teachers I’ve been to were just plain abusive- with Gene it is not like that at all! Those attracted to the class love the family atmosphere everyone has towards one another.
Your mind (or your agent) may be in the wrong place if you just want a “name” acting coach on your resume; however, fortunately he is that too… I’ve researched pretty much every “where to train” guide related to Los Angeles. Consistently he is listed as one of the top if not the highest rated coaches. I cannot recommend anyone better than Gene to train with… Different? Yes. Better? No. If you are searching for someone- just go!!!

First of all let me say that I love and respect Gene tremendously. His nurturing and non-judgmental approach to teaching allowed me to grow, not only as a talent but, as an individual. I will always be grateful for his contribution to my life.
